"Gent" was a Best in Show and Multi Best in Specialty Show winner, with many Best of Breed and Group wins to his credit. He finished his AKC championship with three majors at 14 months of age. He retired from the show ring in 2001 and went on to be an ardent competitor in agility, becoming the first, and perhaps still the only, Best in Show Doberman male to earn Excellent level agility titles.  He retired full time in 2004, and went on to make his mark as a stud dog and to spread love as a therapy dog in nursing homes, hospitals and rehab centers.

He was the epitome of the Doberman standard- energetic, obedient, alert, watchful, determined, fearless- but best of all, totally devoted.

Gent was shown as a veteran for the first time at the Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Club Specialty on Easter Sunday 2004. There were 92 Dobermans entered - thirteen specials, six of whom are top twenty contenders. Our judge was the well respected breeder/judge, Jane Kay. What a thrill it was for so many of us to see "The Gentleman", handled by Elizabeth Barrett, win this big Specialty again, and this time from the VETERANS class!! Over and over again, Judge Kay remarked, "That's one HELL of a dog!"  We couldn't agree more!

At the 2005 DPCA Host Club specialty, 9-year-old Gent not only won the Veteran's Dog class under breeder/judge Margaret Downey, but he was also awarded Best in Veteran Sweeps!
